The Process

Applying for Summer Design Lab is simple and easy.  There are 3 steps that you need to follow:

  • Step 1: Basic Information

    • Home address and phone number
    • Parent/guardian information for emergencies
    • School address and phone number
    • Name of art teacher or guidance counsellor
  • Step 2: Application Details

    • Photograph or image of single piece of artwork
    • A 250-word statement describing artwork to be submitted
    • Letter of recommendation*

    *Recommended for scholarship. To be written by art teacher or guidance counsellor.

  • Step 3: Fees and Payment

    Tuition is $1575 plus applicable taxes.  There is a $300 non-refundable deposit required to hold your spot.

    Homestay fees (for those who require housing and/or boarding) are calculated separately and are determined once suitable space has been found.

    Final fees are calculated once discounts and scholarships are awarded. The payment process begins when you receive your acceptance letter.  For more info, go to the FAQ.

Some useful tips for a successful application:

  • Don’t rush through the application.  Set aside time and start early
  • Select your best piece of artwork to showcase
  • Ensure adequate lighting when taking a photo of artwork
  • Stay within the word limit for essays (be concise)
  • Check grammar and spelling
  • Get recommendation letter early on
  • Apply for a scholarship (it doesn’t hurt to try!)
  • Require food and board? We’ll connect you with your homestay partner
